On August 28 at 6:00 PM, the Lithuanian Artists’ Association Kaunas Department will open the group sculpture exhibition MAQUETTE DIMENSION 2.5 at Gallery “Drobė.” The exhibition offers a unique opportunity to witness one of the most delicate stages of an artist’s creative journey – models, sketches, and prototypes.
MAQUETTE DIMENSION 2.5 invites viewers to explore the beginnings of sculpture – the moment when an idea first starts to take shape. Here, visitors encounter sketches, experimental models, and improvisations – fragments that usually remain hidden in the private space of the artist’s studio. At this stage, the work is not yet complete: it is fragile, open to change, and capable of evolving, fading, or transforming entirely.
The model becomes the first spark of creative impulse – a hint that carries both vulnerability and endless possibilities. Visitors enter a space where the artwork is still searching for its form. They are no longer just spectators but witnesses to the process itself, able to sense the dynamic nature of creation and experience how matter emerges from an idea. It is a place where thought, material, and transformation converge.
This exhibition also serves as the introductory event for the upcoming International Sculpture Symposium in Kaunas, during which artists from neighboring countries will work in open spaces throughout September, sharing their experiences and allowing the city to observe the creative process in real time. During the symposium, Kaunas will become a living workshop, where visitors can follow the development of artworks from the first sketches to fully realized forms.
